If you are looking for a discount TV stand, chances are you just bought a new TV. Flat screen TVs have been out for a while but it has only been in recent times that the largest ones are finally affordable.

It won't take you long to realize your dream was only have baked. You still need a place to store your components. Most people have Cable TV or a satellite dish these days. So there is one piece you'll have to find a home for. What about your DVD player to watch movies? Do you have a stereo or a theater sound system? That's another few pieces you'll need to accommodate.

The new era of TV stands are much smaller and compact than their wall unit brothers. Some are as small as a couple glass shelves mounted directly to the wall. Others have separate compartments for each of your components. It's a good idea to count how many components you actually have BEFORE you go out shopping to make sure you buy a TV stand that will meet your needs. Think about what other features you want. Would you like it to be on wheels so you can rewire or clean easily? Do you want it with doors or open shelves? What colors would go with your current furniture? Do you know the maximum length and depths measurements you will find acceptable? Having thought all this out in advance will save you time and frustration while you are shopping.
